Penguindrum
Three kids share a house: twins Kanba and Shouma, and their little sister Himari, who spends more days in a hospital bed than in her own room. So when the doctors let her out for one afternoon, the brothers take her to the aquarium to see the penguins. She collapses there. The doctors have nothing left to offer. Then a penguin hat from the gift shop lands on her head, and Himari sits up, alive, breathing, hungry even. Except she isn't quite herself anymore. Something else speaks through her now, and it wants a thing called the Penguin Drum. No drum, no Himari. Just like that, two teenage boys are running around the city hunting for an object they can't even picture, while other people chase it too, each one convinced it will hand them the life they were supposed to get. The deeper Kanba and Shouma dig, the more the trail bends back toward their own family, toward a past nobody ever explained to them. Every stranger they meet seems to want the same thing for a different reason, and some of those reasons are ugly. How far are two brothers willing to go to keep one girl breathing?
