Rintarou Okabe calls himself a mad scientist. He rents a cramped apartment in Akihabara, fills it with junk, and runs the Future Gadget Laboratory with his childhood friend Mayuri and a hacker otaku named Itaru. Their greatest invention so far is a microwave that responds to text messages and turns bananas into green slime. Then Okabe wanders into a time travel conference, and everything tilts. Strange events pile up, and soon the three of them realize the phone microwave is doing something impossible: sending texts into the past and rewriting history with each one. That discovery draws attention. The shadowy organization SERN starts watching, and what began as a game turns into a hunt. Okabe keeps jumping, trying to undo the damage he caused, and every fix seems to break something else. The people he loves are slipping away from him, and his grip on reality is going with them. He is not a scientist anymore. He is a man chasing a timeline that keeps folding shut. How many times can you watch someone you love die before you stop being yourself?
