Katsumi Liqueur is still new to the Attacked Mystification Police, still learning how the squad moves and who she can trust. Then a routine case cracks open into something worse, and the past she thought she left behind walks right back into it. The city keeps its secrets close. So does AMP. What begins as another assignment turns into a fight against a threat that does not play by any rules Katsumi understands yet, and the people around her are not telling her everything they know. Some of them are hiding things that could get her killed. Old enemies. New faces from the shadows. A team that fights well together but never quite says what it means. How much of the truth is Katsumi actually ready to hear?
