Humanity never went out with a bang. It just quietly stopped having kids, and now empty cities rot while ten-centimeter fairies run the place. They build impossible machines, they chatter at a mile a minute, and they will burn down a village for a piece of candy. A young woman finishes her studies and comes home to find the UN has handed her a job: official mediator between people and fairies. Keep the peace. Easy, right? She drops by a fairy hangout just to say hello. That is where the trouble starts, because the fairies mean no harm and cause nothing but. Their candy cravings set off disasters no one can predict, and she is the one who has to clean it all up. A tiny, brilliant, sugar-mad population, a handful of leftover humans, and one girl stuck in the middle with a title and no instructions. The fairies are not villains. That is the problem. So how do you negotiate with someone who would trade a working time machine for a chocolate bar, and who might just destroy the world before lunch without noticing?
