The airship Norn drifts through a sky that hasn't seen a war in centuries, carrying nine people with powers they never asked for. Koharu can barely stand what her hands can do. Mikoto throws up barriers to keep everyone safe. Nanami carries a sin so heavy she'd rather not wake up tomorrow. Their job sounds simple: hand these abilities over to a mysterious entity called The World, then go home. Nobody has ever seen The World. Nobody even knows where it is. Then someone counts heads. There are too many people on board. One of them doesn't belong, and before anyone can figure out who, something starts firing on the ship. Whoever it is wants the Norn grounded, permanently. Now the passengers are stuck between an attacker outside and a stranger sitting somewhere among them, sharing their meals, watching their backs. Why were they given these powers in the first place, and when they finally reach The World, what will it actually ask of them?
