The oceans are gone. So are the continents. What's left is a maze of concrete and steel stretching past every horizon, and a boy named Ura who spends his days down in the Archive Excavation Department, piecing old Earth files back together frame by frame. Most of the crew has stopped caring. He hasn't. Then a recording turns up that shouldn't exist. Distorted, half-corrupted, and it doesn't match anything in the catalog. Every pass through the restoration software sharpens it a little more, and the picture forming on his screen is nothing like the ruins outside his window. Ura keeps digging into the file while the people around him tell him to drop it. He doesn't. What he's seeing could mean the surface isn't as dead as everyone believes, or it could mean the archives have been lying to all of them from the start. If the world he's been restoring never really looked like that, what exactly is he standing on?
