Snack Basue
Five stops from Susukino, Hokkaido's biggest nightlife district, sits a tiny bar called Snack Basue. Two women run the place: mama Basue and mama Akemi. Regulars drift in, the drinks get poured, and the chatter never really stops. Sounds like just another quiet spot away from the crowds, right? Then the customers open their mouths. A strange bunch, every one of them, and the conversations swing somewhere you never expect. The mamas hold it together, mostly, while the girls working there keep the laughter going. What starts as a normal night behind the counter turns into whatever these people decide to talk about next. The whole thing lives on that gap between a calm little bar and the chaos its regulars bring through the door. Nobody is in a hurry. Nobody has a big plan. So what exactly keeps pulling the same odd faces back to this counter, night after night?
