Toyohisa Shimazu is bleeding out on the field at Sekigahara, holding the rear while his men run. A spear wound, no way home. Then the battlefield is gone and he's standing in a white hallway lined with doors, a man in glasses named Murasaki pointing him toward the nearest one. He passes out. He wakes up somewhere that is definitely not heaven. This new land crawls with monsters and with warriors who died long ago, ripped out of their own centuries. Toyohisa falls in with Nobunaga Oda and the archer Nasu no Yoichi, and together they get called Drifters, summoned to fight a war that isn't theirs against the Ends, the ones who built the Orte Empire from the ground up. Meanwhile the Empire is hunting elves and anyone else who isn't human, and the Ends only get stronger. So a samurai with nothing left to lose signs up for a war in a world he barely understands. What happens when the dead stop being dead and start choosing sides?
