Future Boy Conan
A magnetic weapon tore the world apart in seconds. Half the planet gone, continents split and swallowed by water, and the last survivors who tried to escape into space fell right back down when their ships dropped out of orbit. One ship made it. It crash landed on a tiny island that somehow survived the destruction, and the crew stayed there and started over. Years later, a boy named Conan is born, the only child on that island. By the time he is old enough to run along the beach, almost everyone else has died. Just him and the old man who raised him, and the two of them figure they might be the last people alive. Then a girl washes up in the surf. Her name is Lana, and she is not from some lost colony. She comes from Industria, a nation that wants to use her as a hostage so her grandfather, Dr. Lao, will power their machines. Before Conan can even ask her what any of that means, Industria's best pilot drops out of the sky and takes her. He leaves the island that same day to get her back. What is waiting for him out there, past the water he has never crossed?
