A boy named Jim Hawkins gets his hands on a map, and before he knows it he is on a ship bound for an island where the pirate Captain Flint buried a fortune. The crew seems friendly enough. One man in particular, John Silver, looks out for him like an older brother. Jim trusts him completely. Then Silver seizes command of the ship and drops the act. He is not some kindly sailor. He was Flint's right hand, and the gold is the only thing he has ever cared about. Jim is left with a wound that will not close, because the man who lied to him still calls them friends, and part of Jim wants to believe it. Now the boy has to keep his head among men who would gut him for a coin, and Silver keeps saving his life for reasons even he may not understand. When the moment comes and Jim has to choose a side, will the man who betrayed him be the one he cannot bring himself to hate?
