In the desert country of Clow, a princess named Sakura and Syaoran, the son of an archaeologist, have grown up as friends. He brings her trinkets from his digs. She sneaks out to see him even though the King frowns on it. Then one day he finds her pinned to a cliff face, enormous wings spreading from her shoulders. Before he can reach her the feathers tear loose and scatter, and she drops, unconscious, with no memory left behind. The court wizard tells him the truth: those feathers were her memories, her strength, and they have flown off into other worlds. Syaoran has no way to follow them until he meets the Dimensional Witch, who names her price. Two strangers walk in right behind him: Fai, a wizard running from something in his own world, and Kurogane, a swordsman who wants to be stronger and is being dragged along whether he likes it or not. A small white creature called Mokona does the actual hopping between worlds. So three men who owe each other nothing cross dimensions chasing feathers that could be anywhere, in any form, in any world. Can Syaoran bring back every last one before the girl he loves stays empty forever?
