Mary Smith can't do anything right. Red hair everywhere, clumsy as hell, and now she's stuck at her Great Aunt Charlotte's place with nothing to do. Then a cat starts showing up. Black one minute, a different color the next. She follows it into the woods and finds a patch of blue flowers growing out of dead ground. Fly-by-Night, the gardener calls them. Witches kill for those things. One night the cat comes back and leads her to an old broom under a twisted tree. Mary smashes some flowers against it. Bad idea, or maybe the best one. The broom lights up and yanks her into the sky, all the way to Endor College, where everyone assumes she's a new student. Free room, free food, actual magic. Not bad, until she gets home and finds out Peter, the boy from next door, is gone. The witches took him. Her fault. So she has to go back. Can a girl who breaks everything she touches pull off a rescue inside a school full of witches who'd rather she just disappeared?
