Illya is just a regular elementary school girl until a flying magic wand named Ruby decides she is a better fit for the job than the actual sorceress who was supposed to wield it. Rin, that sorceress, doesn't get much of a say in the matter. Ruby simply picks Illya, and just like that the kid is transforming into a magical girl and hunting down seven Class Cards, medieval artifacts that hold the souls of legendary heroes. Here is the twist: Rin was never alone on this job. Luvia, her rival, got a wand of her own, Sapphire, and the two of them cannot stand each other. So both wands walk out on their owners and go find new girls. Illya runs into Miyu, who already has Sapphire and the same mission. Two schoolgirls, one card collection, and no adults in sight. Now they have to work together, whether they like it or not, because the cards are not going to collect themselves and the people who lost their wands are still hanging around. What happens when two rival mages find out their wands chose a pair of kids over them?
