Satoru Mikami is 37, stuck in a Tokyo office routine, and still has not managed a single girlfriend. Then a mugger jumps his colleague on the street. Satoru takes the knife instead. As he bleeds out, a voice rattles off commands he cannot make sense of. He wakes up as a slime. No blood left to lose, at least. Turns out this blob can eat anything and copy whatever it swallows. Wandering the new world, he runs into Veldora, a Storm Dragon locked away for three hundred years after flattening a town. The guy is lonely. They become friends, and Veldora hands him a name: Rimuru Tempest. So the slime sets out to grow stronger and break that seal. But a monster with a dragon's protection does not stay unnoticed for long. Kingdoms, other monsters, whole armies start to take an interest in the little puddle with a man's mind inside. Can a former salaryman really reshape a world that never asked for him?
