A college girl named Hana falls for a quiet guy who keeps showing up to her lectures. He isn't enrolled. He isn't even human. One full moon, he changes shape in front of her: the last werewolf alive. She doesn't run. They build a life together, and two kids arrive, Ame in the rain and Yuki in the snow. Both can sprout ears and tails when nobody's watching. Then the father dies. Just like that, Hana is alone with two children who howl at night and turn into wolves when they get excited. In a crowded city apartment, every scratch on the wall and every strange noise is a threat. Neighbors ask questions. Landlords notice things. So she packs up and moves them out to a run-down house in the mountains, where the nearest person is a long walk away and the fields don't care what you are. Now she's chopping wood, growing rice, and chasing two wild kids through the woods while trying to figure out what a mother is supposed to do when her son and daughter aren't sure they want to be human at all. Can Yuki keep her secret at school, and will Ame ever come back down from the mountain?
