Masane Amaha is just trying to keep her daughter. That is the whole plan, and it is not going well: child welfare agents want Rihoko, and they want her badly enough to chase a mother across the country. Then they catch up. Rihoko gets taken. And on that same rotten day, something else comes for Masane. Not a social worker. A weapon that walks and talks like a person, and hits like nothing she has ever seen. Cornered, she has nothing left. Then her wrist starts to glow. What comes out of that light is not human, and it turns the attacker into scrap. Now every powerful organization in the city wants a piece of her, because the thing living in her arm is the Witchblade, and it is the strongest weapon anyone has ever gotten their hands on. Masane did not ask to be anybody's prize. She only wants her kid back. So here is the question: how far will a mother go when the thing she needs to save her daughter is also the thing everyone is willing to kill her for?
