Coud is a rookie sky pirate, and on his first real raid he pokes through the loot his crew dragged off some unlucky ship. Between the usual junk he finds a girl. Her name is Ren, and she belongs to a race called Edel Reid. Humans prize these girls for one reason: pair with one, and you get combat power you could never reach on your own. Then three officers from Arc Aire, an outfit that exists to protect Edel Reid, show up at the ship and try to buy her. Not just any price either. Coud says no. Right after that, something with no name and no face hits the ship hard, and in the middle of the chaos his captain dumps Ren in his care and tells him to run. So now a rookie with barely any flying hours is guarding the most wanted girl in the sky, with Arc Aire on one side and whatever attacked them on the other, and he still has no idea why everyone wants her so badly. What exactly is Ren, and why did the captain pick him of all people to keep her alive?
