Ten years ago the sky over Japan turned into a lie. The Moon vanished, every star now tied to one person's life, and a walled zone called Hell's Gate swallowed part of the city. Out of it came Contractors: people with powers who pay for every use, losing their emotions in the bargain. They are perfect killers. So the quiet exchange student Li Shengshun looks harmless.
