Episode 4 · Revenger

Revenger

Raizou Kurima is a samurai who follows orders. So when his lord points him at a man tangled up in the drug trade, he draws his blade and does the job. Only afterward does he learn the truth: the man he killed was supposed to become his father-in-law. Someone set him up, and the guilt lands on him like a roof caving in. Then a stranger shows up. Yuuen Usui calls himself a merchant who will take on any job, but that is a cover. He runs with the Revengers, a crew who handle the kind of justice the law will not touch. Victims who have nowhere left to turn get a special coin into the right hands, and the Revengers come calling on their behalf. Raizou wants the lord who lied to him, and Yuuen offers a way to get there. Working beside these people pulls Raizou deeper than he planned. Corrupt officials, foreign traders with their own dirty games, and a web of favors and blood money that stretches further than he can see. The longer he runs with the Revengers, the less he trusts his own idea of what justice even means. So what happens when the man hunting revenge finally figures out he might be standing on the wrong side of it?
