A moonlit clearing, bodies everywhere. Bandits, slavers, all cut down. A lone boy stands among them, the same boy these men had kept as a slave. The swordsman who did the killing almost rides off without him, tells him to find a village and beg for a roof. Days later he comes back to check, and the kid never left. He is digging graves. For the slaves, yes. But also for the bandits. Even for the slavers. So the swordsman takes him in and gives him a new name: Kenshin, heart of the sword. The boy grows up learning a lethal style from the last man alive who knows it, and his hands turn deadly fast. Too fast. His gentle nature was never meant for this work, yet he walks straight into a war, an assassin before he is even a man, cutting down people in the dark so a new era can be born. Justice on one side of the blade. Rot on the other. And somewhere in the middle, a woman he should probably stay away from. Can a boy who buries his enemies ever wash the blood off his own hands?
