Train Heartnet never misses. That's the whole point of him. He works for Chronos, a secret outfit that does not tolerate loose ends, and he carries the number thirteen tattooed on his skin like a brand. People in the underground call him Black Cat, and they say the name quietly, the way you'd talk about bad weather coming. He kills without flinching, without thinking much about it, and for a long time that's fine by him. He is good at one thing and he does it. Then one gray night he runs into Saya, a bounty hunter with a smile that does not fit the world they both live in. She talks to him like he's a person, not a weapon. So he stops. Just like that, the deadliest gun in the organization walks away and starts chasing bounties, scraping by with a couple of new friends at his side. It should be over. It is not. Creed, the guy who used to follow him around like a shadow, does not take rejection well. He wants the old Black Cat back and he is willing to burn down everything Train cares about to get him. So how far can a stray cat actually run before the shooting starts again?
