A Japanese tourist in America stumbles onto a hit he was never supposed to see. He runs. He hides in a quiet building and thinks he's safe. Then a young woman named Ein walks in, and behind her comes the man who runs Inferno, and the tourist's life is over before he even understands what's happening. They don't kill him. They wipe him clean instead. When he wakes up he's Zwei, a ghost with a gun and no past. Ein is the killer they call Phantom, a weapon that never misses, and now he's supposed to be one too. He trains, he obeys, he takes lives he can't remember agreeing to take. The two of them move through a criminal underworld where bosses drop dead in the street and nobody asks who pulled the trigger. Somewhere under all of it, fragments of the man he used to be are still there, and that's the dangerous part. Every job puts him closer to a bullet, every memory that surfaces puts him closer to the people who erased him. Can a killer who doesn't remember his own name ever find his way back to being human?
