Miki keeps her head down and her words to a minimum. Classmates drift past her desk every day, and she never once figures out how to join in. She wants to know what fun actually feels like, but has no idea who to ask. Then Aya, the new girl who just moved to Kyoto and barely knows anyone either, pulls her into something small and unexpected after the last bell. Suddenly the city looks different. So does Miki. On the walk home they spot Midori, the class rep, slipping into a shop called Saikoro Club. Board games, wall to wall. Midori talks them into staying, and a German game hits the table. Dice roll. Pieces move. Something clicks in Miki that never clicked before. Now there are games after school, and people to play them with, and a version of Miki that actually shows up. But Aya is still the new kid, Midori is still the class rep, and none of them really know each other yet. Can a stack of cardboard boxes and a handful of dice hold three almost-strangers together?
