Kouta keeps a Pompompurin plush tucked away where no one can see it. His grandma gave him the little golden dog years ago, and he still can't let it go, even after some kids at school mocked him for liking cute Sanrio stuff. So he hides it. Plays it cool. Then Yu Mizuno barges into his life, a loud, popular guy who somehow has the same secret, only his is My Melody. Word gets out. The two of them aren't alone either: there's Shunsuke from the soccer team, Ryou the library assistant, and Seiichirou, the student council president, all carrying the same embarrassment around. Yu tells Kouta straight up that there's nothing wrong with loving cute characters, and slowly the walls come down. Now the five of them are putting together a play for the cultural festival, trying to turn a totally ordinary school year into something that actually sparkles. But can Kouta really stop caring what everyone else thinks?
