Himeno's father lost his job in Tokyo, so they moved to Tajimi, a small city in Gifu known for its Mino ware pottery. It's also the place her mother came from. Her mother died when Himeno was four, leaving behind a stack of mugs that now sit on shelves in the family's new restaurant. On her first day at school, Himeno carries one of those mugs with her, mostly hoping someone will talk to her. Someone does. Mika, a classmate with a boundless appetite for odd ideas, drags her to a room she calls special. Inside is a pottery club, a wheel, clay, and Tooko, the club president, who recognizes the mug in Himeno's hands. That mug was made by a legend, and the legend was Himeno's mother. Turns out her mother helped build this very club. So Himeno joins, with Mika and Naoko, her old friend, shaping lumpy cups that keep collapsing on the wheel. She wants to continue what her mother started, though she has no idea yet what her own hands can make. What do you do when the person you're chasing is a ghost, and the clay refuses to cooperate?
