Earth is a war zone now. Tetsurou Hoshino has spent years in the resistance, fighting a machine empire that just won't quit even after its home world got blown to bits, and honestly, the humans are losing. He's worn down, out of hope, probably wondering why he bothers. Then the 999 pulls into Earth like nothing ever changed. A message from Maetel arrives. No explanation, no apology, just: get back on the train. Tetsurou has to shoot and shove his way to Megalopolis station and barely jumps aboard before it leaves. But Maetel isn't there. Nobody is, really. There's a Ghost Train trailing them, the destination is a blank, and a black knight named Faust keeps showing up wherever Tetsurou turns. Somewhere on this ride is the machine empire's deepest secret, and he may not want to know what it is. Why would Maetel call him back just to disappear?
