A year has passed since Tetsuro and Maetel rode across the stars to free Earth from the Mechanized Empire. The machines are gone. People rule again. And somehow life is worse than before. The new elite sits on top of everything, grinding down ordinary folks who thought they had won. Tetsuro says what everyone else is thinking, out loud, in public. That lands him in a cell with a death sentence hanging over him. Then the Galaxy Express pulls in one more time, Maetel on board, and busts him out. She brings news that turns the whole thing upside down: the Darkness, an entity pulling strings from somewhere far off, is the reason Earth is rotting from the inside. Same trains, new enemy, higher stakes. Tetsuro decides he is going to stop it, no matter what it costs him. He has no ship, no army, and barely a plan. Just a rail line that runs through space and a woman who always seems to know more than she says. Can a kid with nothing but stubbornness really take down the power behind everything?
