Star Blazers: The Bolar Wars

A stray missile never meant for anyone in particular punches straight into the Sun. Two empires were busy shooting at each other, the Galman Empire and the Bolar Federation, and one shot goes wide. Now the Sun is sick. Radiation builds inside it like pressure in a sealed pipe, and when it lets go, Earth cooks. So the Star Force loads up and flies out again. Same ship, same crew, older now, and this time there is no enemy fleet to outrun. They need to find a planet humans can actually live on before the clock runs out. Problem is, every candidate world already belongs to somebody, and those somebodies have guns too. How do you ask a stranger for a home when the only thing you bring is a dying planet at your back?
