Cherry keeps his headphones on and his mouth shut. Seventeen, awkward around people, he pours everything he can't say into haiku and posts them online, where almost nobody reads them. He's killing time at a part time job at a nursing home before his family moves away in August. Then a girl in a disposable mask crashes into his life by accident, and somehow ends up working shifts right next to him. Smile runs a video blog about finding cute things, all bright and bubbly for the camera. Off camera she hides her mouth, because her front teeth stick out and the braces make it worse. One day the two of them get pulled into helping an old man named Fujiyama track down a vinyl record he lost somewhere, a record he wants to hear one more time before his memory goes for good. All they have is the sleeve and a single word: yamazakura. So a boy who can only speak in seventeen syllables and a girl who won't let anyone see her smile start combing through the summer heat for a song. Will they find the record before the old man forgets why it mattered, and will they figure out what they're really looking for?
