Ganta Nakami can't sleep. Hasn't for a long time. Every night he lies there staring at the ceiling, and every morning he drags himself to class ready to bite someone's head off. His classmates keep their distance. What he really wants is a quiet corner where he can pass out for twenty minutes without anyone asking questions. Then he finds one. The old astronomy club observatory, dusty and forgotten, the kind of place students avoid because of the creepy stories attached to it. And someone is already there, curled up asleep. Isaki Magari, the friendly girl everyone likes, the last person he'd expect to be hiding a sleep problem of her own. She wakes up, sizes him up, and offers to share the spot. Two people who barely know each other, napping side by side in a room that technically belongs to nobody. It should be simple. It isn't. Between the small hours they spend together and the daytime faces they put on for everyone else, something starts to shift, quietly, the way tired people fall into step without meaning to. But the reasons they can't sleep are still there, waiting in the dark. What happens when the only place you can rest is a room you're not supposed to be in, with someone you're not supposed to know?
