Haru is late for school again, just another day of the same boring routine. Then she pulls a cat out from under a truck's wheels, and the cat stands up on its hind legs and thanks her. Turns out he's Prince Lune of the Cat Kingdom. Soon mice show up in her locker, catnip sprouts in the yard overnight, and a royal invitation arrives that isn't really an invitation: the Cat King has decided she'll marry his son. She wants no part of it. A voice tells her to find the Cat Bureau, where a fat cat named Muta, a gentlemanly Baron and a huge raven named Toto offer to help. They barely get started before a swarm of cats bursts in and drags Haru off to the kingdom anyway, with one of the Bureau members taken too. The Baron goes after her. Here's the nasty part: the longer Haru stays, the more cat she becomes. Whiskers, ears, the whole thing. Unless she can remember who she really is, she stays a cat forever. So what happens when a girl who never knew herself has to prove she exists?
