Asuna's days look the same: top grades, an empty house, dinner for one while her mother works late. Her only real escape is the mountain hideout where she sits with the old crystal radio her father left behind. Then one evening the dial slips and a melody comes through. Sad, strange, and unlike anything she has ever heard. A few days later a monster attacks her on the trail. A boy named Shun appears out of nowhere and saves her life. He is gone almost as fast, and that is when Asuna learns there is a place beneath this world called Agartha, a country of the dead. Her friend is dead too. Her father as well. In Agartha, both could live again. So she goes down. What waits there is beautiful and merciless, and the dead do not come back for free. Anyone who tries to beat death has to leave something behind. How much is Asuna willing to lose to see her father one more time?
