Inari Fushimi is the kind of middle schooler who trips over her own feet and mumbles when a teacher calls on her. She's got messy hair, zero confidence, and a crush on her classmate Kouji that she can't get out of her mouth no matter how hard she tries. One afternoon she cuts through the local shrine, spots a small fox pup struggling in the water, and pulls him out. No big deal, right? Except the shrine's goddess was watching. Uka-sama doesn't forget a good deed. She hands Inari a sliver of her own divine power, and suddenly this awkward kid can become anyone she wants just by shouting a few words. Sounds like the answer to every problem, especially the Kouji one. It isn't. Every transformation digs her deeper into the spirit world, where a fox named Kon keeps her company and Uka-sama becomes something closer to a real friend than Inari ever expected. But borrowing someone else's face doesn't fix the fact that she still can't say what she means as herself. So what happens when the person you're pretending to be starts to matter more than the confession you've been chasing?
