Hajime Amamori is a regular kid in 1999, worrying about school and messing around with his friends. Then his dad's experiment goes wrong and the house goes up with it. His parents are gone, and Hajime moves in with his uncle, an astronomer who runs an observatory. There he runs into a girl he has had a crush on for a while: Yukino Yayoi, whose family owns a ramen shop. She works as his uncle's assistant. Best luck ever, right? Not quite. Yayoi is the Millennial Queen, sent from a planet called LaMetal to get Earth ready for something awful. Every thousand years LaMetal swings so close to us that the planet basically tears itself apart, and the next pass lands on September 9th, 1999, at 9:09 and 9 seconds. Her own plan is not to save her home world but to move as many humans there as she can, so somebody survives. And that is when the Millennial Thieves show up, hunting Hajime and dead set on stopping her. Why does their leader know so much about the Queen, and what does he want with a kid who just lost everything?
