In 1999, a massive planet called La Metal swings past Earth every thousand years, and this time it's coming close enough to hit. Meteors start raining down, cities panic, and a Tokyo observatory professor named Amamori quietly tells his assistant what he knows: the people of La Metal have had their eyes on Earth for a long time, and conquest has always been the plan. What Amamori doesn't know is who his assistant really is. Yayoi Yukino teaches junior high by day and helps him with astronomy on the side. She's also Queen Millennia, sent from La Metal a thousand years ago to watch humanity and rule it from the shadows until her successor arrives. A millennium of watching people live and die has done something to her. When the sky starts falling, one of her students, Hajime, runs to her side, and she leads him down into a vast cave beneath the ground. She has already chosen Earth over the world that made her. Now she's racing to stop a catastrophe her own kind is counting on, and the clock is running out. Can one queen, a schoolboy, and a professor who knows too little really stand between two planets about to collide?
