Mars Daybreak
Mars is drowning. The old red deserts are gone, replaced by open ocean, and what's left of humanity floats in city-ships bobbing on the waves. Down on the water, money is tight, jobs are scarcer, and a decent meal costs more than most people make in a week. Gram knows the math all too well: he's scraping by, feeding two small kids who depend on him, and every day the work dries up a little more. Then a wrong turn. A bad moment in a bad place, and suddenly Gram is on the run with the crew of the Aurora, the most wanted pirate ship on the whole planet. The Earth government has had enough of them, and it just dropped a fresh squad of military pilots in Round Bucklers to clean up the seas. So now a broke kid who only wanted to keep two children fed is standing on the deck of a pirate vessel, dodging mecha, and realizing something strange: he actually likes these people. The government wants the pirates gone. The pirates want the corruption gone. Gram just wants to survive, and he's running out of places to hide. What happens when the boy who only wanted a meal starts believing in the fight?
