Mahoro has fought her last battle. The android built by Vesper to smash alien invaders has burned through almost all of her power, and thirty seven days is all she has left. Fight again and that number drops. Stay out of it and she gets a year or more. So she walks away from the war and takes a job as a maid. Her new boss is Suguru, a high school kid drowning in his own mess. His parents are gone, the house is a disaster, and he hires help mostly out of desperation. Then a bus ride gets hijacked by thugs and a girl in a maid uniform drops them without breaking a sweat. That is how Mahoro moves in, cooking, cleaning, scolding him about laundry, and quietly watching the clock tick down. The days are loud and funny and warm, and Suguru's friends drift in and out like nothing is wrong. Except something is. Mahoro did not pick this house by accident, and whatever she is really after, it has to do with Suguru himself. Their pasts are tangled in a way he has not figured out yet. What happens when a weapon with an expiration date starts to care about the people she was sent to protect?
