Takeru Takemoto coasts through high school: swim club, courier shifts on his bike, his best friend tagging along, and his cousin chewing him out for being lazy. He's not a bad guy, just bored. Then a delivery run takes him past a light in the woods, and his bike goes down. What he finds inside the glow is a girl, naked, stepping out of a cocoon like she was born that second. She says her name is Hikari. Before Takeru can even figure out where to look, something massive crashes out of the trees and comes straight for them. And that's when it happens: both of them change. Some other self takes over, power neither of them asked for, and Takeru is left standing there with no idea what he just became. Hikari moves in with him, sweet and clueless about the world, and the monster was only the first one. Something is hunting her, and whatever is waking up inside Takeru isn't exactly human either. So who is Hikari really, and what happens to the boy who found her when the thing inside him decides it doesn't want to go back to sleep?
