Episode 2 · Leviathan

Leviathan

1914, but not the one from your history books. A prince runs from the empire that wants him dead. Elsewhere, a girl cuts her hair, straps down her chest, and signs up to fly for the British Air Service, because it is the only way they will let her anywhere near a cockpit. Neither of them is looking for company. Then the war drops them both onto the same ship. The HMS Leviathan is not built from steel and rivets: it is a living thing, a whale of an airship stitched together from engineered animals, and it breathes. Alek has to hide a name that could get him shot. Deryn has to hide everything else. Somewhere over the clouds, with bullets flying and old loyalties cracking apart, these two secrets start leaning on each other. What happens when the one person who could turn you in is the only one who understands why you lied?
