The Holy Britannian Empire is gone. Its last emperor is dead, the map has been redrawn, and the lands it once crushed underfoot are free to govern themselves. Most of them sign on with the United Federation of Nations and call it peace. But old empires do not die cleanly. A splinter faction called Neo-Britannia seizes Hokkaido, murders its governor, and settles in like it owns the place. Which, in its mind, it does. In Hokkaido, a resistance cell known as the Seven Shining Stars is running out of moves. Every plan they draft falls apart before it starts. So they hire outsiders: two brothers, Rozé and Ash. Rozé thinks three steps ahead of everyone in the room. Ash flies a Knightmare like it's an extra limb. Both were born Britannian, and both have spent years killing Britannian officials and shielding Japanese civilians, which makes them either the perfect allies or the worst possible ones. The Stars don't have the luxury of asking which. Together they start clawing back ground, one district at a time, against an enemy that has more soldiers, more machines, and no interest in mercy. But two men cannot liberate an island on skill alone. So what exactly are Rozé and Ash hiding, and who will still be standing when Hokkaido is free?
