Shinkurou is sixteen and looks like a stiff wind could knock him over. Then night falls and he's out there doing the jobs nobody else wants: chasing off thugs, scaring away extortionists, putting local gangsters back in their place. He calls it settling problems. He lives alone, he's been training in his friend Yuuno's family dojo since he was small, and he never asks too many questions about the work. That changes when his boss Benika hands him a new assignment. The job is simple on paper. Watch a kid. The kid is Murasaki, six years old and the daughter of a rich, iron-fisted family. She fled that house under circumstances nobody wants to explain, and now she's living with a teenage boy in a cramped apartment. Everything about ordinary life confuses her. The neighbors, the food, the noise, all of it. Slowly the bratty attitude wears off and she starts trailing after Shinkurou like a little shadow. He protects her. He has no idea what he's actually protecting her from. Benika won't say. The details stay vague, the real danger stays hidden, and Shinkurou just keeps showing up anyway. What exactly is coming for a six-year-old girl that the whole truth has to be kept from the one person guarding her?
