Jin Mikuriya just wants to bring his art project to school. He carved a wooden statue of a girl he once saw as a kid at a nearby shrine, and now he's picturing everyone crowding around it. Then he notices roots. The statue has grown into the ground overnight. Before he can even pull it free, it bursts open and a girl steps out. Her name is Nagi, she says she's a shrine spirit who watches over the village, and she is furious about what happened to her tree. Here's the problem: the tree is already cut down, and with it went Nagi's power. She's stuck with a wand, a bad attitude, and nowhere to sleep, so she moves into Jin's house. Now he's got a guardian deity raiding his fridge and dragging him out to purify whatever's rotting the land. The two of them bicker, learn things about each other, and stumble through one mess after another. But if Nagi's tree is gone for good, can a spirit with almost nothing left actually protect anything?
