Kyouhei thought Tokyo would be a clean slate. New apartment, late nights out with friends, and Hibino, the girl he has quietly loved for years, right there beside him. Then one morning, after a party that ran until sunrise, the two of them step into an elevator and find a body chopped to pieces, soaked head to foot in blood. Turns out the past does not stay in the past. Back in his hometown Kyouhei was a seki, someone who moves the kakashi with his mind. Those old wooden gods can do things people only whisper about. Now one of them is walking the streets of Tokyo, and his little sister Utao, who carries her own kakashi, shows up to tell him who is behind it: Aki, a relative and once a close friend, freshly escaped from confinement. And Aki has not come to Tokyo by accident. He is hunting Kyouhei. Utao wants to fight. Kyouhei wants none of it. So who is really pulling the strings, and why does Aki need Kyouhei alive?
