Ten years after a massive earthquake sank most of Tokyo underwater, Ganta Igarashi is just a regular middle school kid in Nagano. He doesn't remember the disaster at all. Then a man covered in blood crashes through his classroom window, grinning, and cuts down every one of Ganta's classmates. Instead of killing him too, the Red Man shoves a red crystal shard into his chest. Days later, Ganta is the only suspect. The trial is suspiciously quick, and the sentence is death. He gets sent to Deadman Wonderland, the prison amusement park his class was supposed to visit on a field trip. Now he's an inmate in a collar that pumps poison into his veins unless he keeps winning the deadly games. Sadistic convicts, powers he can't explain, and no way to tell who actually wants to help him. All he has left is one goal: find the Red Man and clear his name. But in a place where survival is the only currency, can Ganta even stay alive long enough to get answers?
