Fifteen kids on summer break find a cave by the sea that goes deeper than anyone in town ever guessed. Down at the bottom sits a room full of humming computers and a man named Kokopelli, who says he built a game: pilot a giant robot, keep the Earth safe from invaders. Sounded like fun. Everyone but one kid signed up. Then the robot shows up for real. The kids are yanked into the cockpit, Kokopelli fights something just as big, wins, and tries to apologize before they get dumped back on the ground. The thing vanishes. They wake up on the beach convinced it was a dream, except the wreckage is still smoking. Here is the catch, and it is a nasty one. All fifteen of them are walking dead, and they know it. Given a weapon that dangerous, they do not rush to save anybody. They have their own lives, their own grudges, their own messes to sort out first. So who do you root for when the heroes only care about themselves?
