Narumi changes schools so often he stopped bothering to fit in. He sits in class like a ghost, and that suits him fine. Then Ayaka, a loud classmate with zero sense of personal space, drags him into the gardening club and afterward to the ramen shop where she works part time. Upstairs, past a door he probably should not open, lives a girl who barely leaves her bed. Her name is Alice, she looks maybe twelve, and she is surrounded by stuffed animals and glowing monitors. She is also the one running a private detective agency. The staff? A bunch of self proclaimed NEETs. No school, no job, no training. Just odd skills and a willingness to poke at the city's dirty secrets. Narumi gets pulled in through a case that hits too close to home, and suddenly this kid who never wanted to belong anywhere is waist deep in other people's disasters. Alice stays in bed, typing, listening, cracking codes and crimes from under her blanket while the others do the legwork. And behind the scattered cases, something bigger keeps surfacing. A crime syndicate, threads nobody can quite connect, links that keep pointing back to Alice herself. Why does a shut in girl with a room full of plush toys know so much about the people who want her dead?
