Houtarou Oreki has it all figured out. If something can be skipped, skip it. If it truly has to be done, do it fast and go back to doing nothing. His sister has other plans, and just like that he is stuck trying to keep a dying Classics Club alive. Then he opens the clubroom door and finds Eru Chitanda already there. Problem solved, right? Not even close. Because Chitanda is curious about everything, and she says so with those huge eyes of hers: I want to know. Before long, a smiley guy with a memory like a database, Satoshi, and Mayaka, who has been chasing after Satoshi for ages, are dragged into the club too. Four students, one dusty room, and mysteries that seem tiny until they are not. An old anthology from forty years ago still sits on the shelf, its title worn down to a single word: Hyouka. Whatever happened back then has almost faded from its pages. So why does Chitanda keep coming back to it, and what exactly is she hoping to find?
