Boogiepop and Others

Boogiepop wa Warawanai (2019) · ブギーポップは笑わない
Avant GardeDramaHorror2019MadhouseRating 7,117+HD

At Shinyo Academy the girls whisper about a death god called Boogiepop. He finds you when you are beautiful, they say, and takes you out before the beauty can fade. Nobody agrees on whether that is mercy or murder. The teachers have a simpler answer for the students who keep vanishing: runaways, probably, kids who got tired of class. Here is what almost no one knows. Boogiepop surfaces inside Touka Miyashita, an ordinary high schooler, and only when something threatens the whole world. So when the disappearances start piling up, that thing has already arrived, and it is hiding somewhere in the school, patient, waiting for the right second to move. Meanwhile the people around all of this carry their own memories, their own grief, their own screwed up ideas about time and what it does to a person. Who is actually taking these girls, and why does it feel like something far worse than a death god has been walking those hallways all along?
