Shoutarou Tatewaki is just a regular high schooler in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, until he crosses paths with Sakurako Kujou, a woman whose idea of a good time is hunting down bones for her collection and cleaning them for hours. At first he even suspects her of being mixed up in a neighborhood disappearance. Then he finds out what she can actually do with a skeleton. That is when the bodies start showing up. Decomposed, abandoned, and somehow always within reach of this odd pair. Sakurako reads a corpse the way other people read a book, and Shoutarou gets pulled along to crime scenes he has no business being near. But the cases keep piling up around them, one after another, like someone is arranging the meetings. Is it really just bad luck, or is something bigger waiting for them at the end of all these bones?
