In Osaka, technology has gone so far that it gave birth to a weapon called a Nimrod. The trick is that you cannot use it alone. Two people have to clasp hands, and the weapon comes out of their souls. Every pair carries a wish they keep hidden from everyone, and the strongest pair earns the right to face God himself. Tazuna is just a regular high school kid, the kind who cannot walk past a broken machine without taking it apart. He wanders into a lab looking for a professor and finds a girl asleep there instead. Koyori. The moment his fingers touch her hand, the two of them are thrown into another world. So they are a pair now, able to summon Nimrods, whether they like it or not. There is a catch, and it is a bad one. Koyori's life is chained to her power. If Tazuna ever lets go of her hand, she dies. So they have to fight other pairs, learn to make their abilities work together, and chase the only thing that might save her: a meeting with God. But how do you win a battle when losing your grip means losing her forever?
